Montreal Bike Maps

CHAMPLAIN ISLANDS BIKEWAYS

These loops lead cyclists through the Champlain Islands on primarily quiet shoreline roads, located between urban Montreal, Quebec and Burlington, Vermont, the Champlain Islands. The landscape sports waterside farms, orchards, and a vineyard; three beautiful shoreline parks, including the largest natural sand beach in Vermont; abundant recreational opportunities; and historic Revolutionary War villages.

LOADING TRAVEL MAPS INTO GARMIN NUVI

I tested loading the waypoints into our Nuvi which is very similar to yours. Basecamp worked fine. The hardest part was remembering that the waypoints from Basecamp show up on the Nuvi in the Favorites section.  I must use Mapsource for my ancient eTrex but Basecamp works fine with Nuvi.

1. Install Basecamp. It's available as free download from Garmin. You may want to use the disk from Phil. It probably also has a detailed map you can install. That will take a lot longer and I'm not sure it's needed.

2. Once Basecamp is installed and you've navigated the various introductory screens click on "files" in left upper panel, the right click on "My collections" then "import into My Collections"

3. Navigate to wherever the augmented gpx files are. Select them all by usual Windows behavior. Then open.

4. They should then show in the left panel with tracks on top and waypoints on bottom.

5. Attach and power on your Nuvi. Wait till it's found by Windows.

6. Select send to device on top menu. The Garmin Nuvi should be shown as the receiving device. then OK,

7. A progress bar will show in the left panel. when it's done unplug the Nuvi. When you turn it on the sag stops etc should be in your Favorites. Mine as orders by linear distance from the present location. That may be confusing on the ride since the nearest sag stop will sometimes be across the lake and not the next sag stop on our route.
