I checked out a Montreal/Quebec bus option but unfortunately the timetable does not extend beyond Feb., 2019. So while there may be a seasonal variation, I did discover that the fare did not vary according to time of day, was less expensive then the train, just as quick if not quicker and the arrival terminus in Quebec is next to the rail station.
ReplyDeleteIf the Brains Trust have any serious group discussion during their time in Quebec, I hope it will be known as 'Savants' Soiree' rather than Nerd Night, in honour of the linguistic elegance of the locale.
Also, I received email from some that believe price on Monastere is too high when compared to other very near hotels. Please suggest specific alternatives and get a price quote for June (high season). It appears we can easily stay in different hotels that better suit one's preferences. Verify whether price is US or CAN dollars.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bob. I am also trying to understand why anyone would buy Economy vs Escape on train when the fare difference is so HUGE. The seating appears to be identical.
ReplyDeleteI found the answer for the super-cheap ESCAPE tickets. They are very LIMITED in quantity and book fast. If you want to be assured of a ticket and want it to be refundable in case of change of plans, you need to book ECONOMY. Here is from the Internet . . .
ReplyDeleteAs these get booked up, then the next cheapest fare is available, usually Economy fares, then Economy Plus, then Business, etc. Most people try and get the "Escape fares" because , obviously, it's cheaper. The seating is "open" seating - this means when you get on the train just choose any seat (except Business Class).
