Day #1

Starting Motel: Super 8 by Wyndham Ticonderoga

6/7/19 Plan
Everyone will meet in late afternoon in Ticonderoga NY.  Half the group will be driving from Hancock MD (488 miles, 9 hours) and half from NJ (250 miles, 4-1/2 hrs).  Not much interest in touring the fort.

Previous Plan - Cancelled
The plan for today is to drive 200 miles from Syracuse to Ticonderoga and tour the Fort Ticonderoga before settling into the motel.

Fort Ticonderoga, previously Fort Carillon, is a large 18th-century fort built by the French located at the South end of Lake Champlain. Between museum exhibitions, lively daily programs, and special events and reenactments a full day can be planned right at the Fort. In the warmer months the King’s Garden is the perfect spot at the Fort to relax.  The senior admission price is $22 https://www.fortticonderoga.org/

At 10:15 a.m. get an overview of Fort Ticonderoga's history as well as the "must-see" suggestions from the museum staff. Visit the changing gallery museum exhibit in the Mars Education Center and drop by the Historic Trades shops to see military tailoring and shoe making in action. Watch the morning musket demonstration.

The Fife & Drum Corps concert is at mid-day.

At the America's Fort Cafe in Log House Welcome Center have a fresh King's Garden salad or sandwich inspired to regional cuisine. At the soldier's camp kitchen see what's for lunch in the 18th century.

Observe the afternoon musket demonstration and afternoon garden tour to the King's Garden.

If still around at 4 PM, pedal 3 miles up Mount Defiance for the guided Witness to History Tour.

OPTIONAL

While back in town and for $20 walk through the CBS licensed Star Trek Original Series Set - a rebuild of the original  Enterprise.
