CGOAB

You all will probably notice the CGOAB entry in the top menu bar.  That is a link to Bruce's Crazy Guy of a Bike journal that he promises to write.  However, until he publishes it, only he and I can access it.  I have been included as an author because I promised to add my usual HTML formatting (rather than the bland default format) and a few photographs.

As Bruce warned, he doesn't have a lot of content yet, but promises a prolific discussion of our experiences to share with the world.  While you wait impatiently for the great unveiling, you can visit Bruce's other contributions to CGAOB by clicking this link and a few of mine by clicking this link.

Lastly, I will steal from Bruce's CGOAB journal for my monthly magazine column.  My editor has been harassing me for taking a break from writing my column. Hopefully, I can add some great experiences and photos from Montreal.

PEDAL FOR CHAMPY

Often listed among the top bike routes in the US, the roads and trails around Lake Champlain provide a unique adventure. Starting at the southern tip of Lake George, the FOGBEE Tour group has planned a June 2019 Inn-to-Inn SAG supported excursion up the New York side of Lake Champlain to Montreal and back down the Vermont side to Burlington.  Besides Montreal, visits to Fort Ticonderoga, Quebec City, the Vermont Islands, and the Von Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe are included.  With the almost flat routes running along the edge of the lake, there will be many opportunities to spot Champy.

The complete plans are laid out at http://champ2019.blogspot.com/ .  If you are interested in joining us, drop me a note at tnbiketom@gmail.com and subscribe to the trip email.

Samantha Brown's Montreal - Places to Love

From immersive to interactive, Montréal is a city that puts on a show of sheer artistry in practically everything that this city is involved with. From hidden-alleyway bicycle tours to the French-Canadian version of Little Italy to its world famous Cirques Festivals to a distiller making gin out of locally sourced botanicals, Montréal both surprised and inspired Samantha in her travels.

This Month's Highlighted Rails to Trail

Trail of the Month: May 2018

“It’s just phenomenal how the trail has changed our community... We’re just going to keep embracing this trail any way we can."

—Tricia Follert, Morristown’s community development coordinator

During the pleasant summer months of northern Vermont, the Lamoille Valley Rail Trail offers an extraordinary experience as it journeys through a verdant river valley tucked among the forested slopes of the Green Mountains. Travelers can revel in this quiet escape while still having big city culture just a couple hours away by car—Montreal to the north and Boston to the south.

August 2015 Note and Photos from Dave S Daughter

Hi guys!

This is a special edition photo email for the bike fans in the group.  Lee and I did this really cool ride (we completed about 18 miles but it goes much longer) in Burlington, VT which has an incredible rails-to-trails path that hugs the shoreline of Lake Champlain, and then it extends into a causeway right out into the middle of the lake for several miles!  It is so beautiful and it is exclusively for bikes. Interestingly, there is a roughly 200 foot gap in the causeway so that boats can pass, but if you want to keep going you can make the crossing with your bike by a bike ferry($4) and continue on biking onto the island that it connects to.

Have you ever seen anything like this? Maybe another FOGBEE destination?

Love, Lisa
