  1. Montreal to Quebec City Excursion by Train

We can make an excursion or destination of Quebec without riding bicycles or driving. There are 4 RT trains per day. The trip is ~3 1/2 hours. The fare varies but the average price is C$45.

TRAVELING FROM MONTREAL TO QUÉBEC CITY BY TRAIN

    CHEAPEST PRICE $24.33

We can stay at the unique and historic Le Monastère des Augustines, site of the continent’s first hospital north of Mexico.

  2. Comment by Charlie Opferman (Cousin of Dave S)

The route does not end up in Montreal but I assume you intend to get into the city. Montreal is one of the most bicycle friendly cities I have ever visited so it is a great place to visit. Barb will join us in Montreal. The first two days have enough climbs to keep them on a shorter (50+ mi) day. I am used to grinding a little more out. Along the shore of Lake Champlain route is flat so group should be able to hit 75-80 mi. If someone wants a side trip, take VIA Rail to Quebec City and bike the Eastern townships. I don’t have the time for that next summer but just throwing it out. My experience with shorter days involve breweries and/or wineries as diversions. Don’t know what your group fancies. That’s it for now. Thanks for thinking about me. Charlie
